Why I support marriage equality
Over a number of years I have spoken in Parliament about my beliefs when it comes to same sex marriage.
In my own eyes – before the law of this Commonwealth, all women and men should be equal, no matter their colour, creed or sexual orientation.
People have the right to choose the individual they love.
And if they choose to marry, the State should not stand in their way.
That’s why I have voted to support same sex marriage in the past, and that’s why I will continue to support it in the future.
In 2012, I voted in favour of the Marriage Amendment Bill.
