Honouring our troops
Today as we pause to honour the Australians who landed at Gallipoli one hundred years ago, we also honour the service and sacrifice of all Australian Defence Force personnel.
Two million Australians serve or have served in our Navy, Army and Air Force over the past hundred years.
Today, we also honour the Australian Defence Force permanent personnel and Reservists who currently help protect our country and its national interests, and think of those among them who are currently deployed on operations around the world.
Australians admire their bravery and dedication – and we thank them for their service.
We also pay tribute to their families, friends and loved ones who themselves make an enormous sacrifice.
This ANZAC Day we take comfort in the knowledge that we are safer thanks to the bravery and dedication of the men and women of the Australian Defence Force.
Lest We Forget.
