Federal ACT members urge Senator Humphries to support Telecommunications Legislation

Federal Members, Andrew Leigh and Gai Brodtmann, and ACT Senator, Kate Lundy have today urged ACT Liberal Senator Gary Humphries to support the  Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Competition and Consumer Safeguards) Bill 2010 currently before the Senate.

“Senator Humphries needs to come clean to ACT residents about whether he will support a more competitive market for the telecommunications industry to drive lower prices,” they said.

“Every day of delay for this legislation is another day of higher prices, less choice and fewer innovative services for residents.

“Senator Humphries knows ACT residents deserve the benefits of this legislation.”

Australia currently has the fifth most expensive broadband charges amongst OECD countries.
