The Chronicle: NBN causes frustration in Canberra
In recent months I’ve been contacted by more and more Canberrans who are incredibly frustrated by their internet situation.
I have heard horror stories from residents in Monash and Theodore who are struggling to get access to any type of internet – and it’s extremely expensive if they can get it.
It prompted me to hold an NBN forum with the Shadow Communications Minister Jason Clare a few weeks ago, where we heard from around 100 concerned Canberrans.
Many at the forum felt helpless and betrayed.
That’s because before the election, Tony Abbott promised that all Australians would have access to the NBN by the end of 2016.
At the end of 2013, the Abbott Government admitted it would be breaking this promise.
