Standing up for Canberra

Merry Christmas Canberra (2016)

I’m really looking forward to this Christmas break.

It’ll be a chance to look back and celebrate what’s been achieved in the last year, and to celebrate the achievements of others, big and small.

I established the School Legends Awards program in 2011 to recognise local students who’ve overcome a physical or personal challenge with resilience, courage and strength.

So far I’ve presented awards to outstanding students at Lanyon High School, Narrabundah Early Childhood School, Woden School, Mount Stromlo and St Francis of Assisi.

If these students are any indication, Canberra has a lot to look forward to.

But right now, I’m mostly looking forward to reading, writing, cooking and lazy days at the beach with Chris at our usual holiday rental at the South Coast.

So have a happy and safe Christmas holiday break.

I look forward to advocating for you – a little more refreshed and reinvigorated - in the year to come.
