Tuggeranong Town Park gets new stage

Member for Canberra, Gai Brodtmann today welcomed the Gillard Government’s direct investment of $380,000 ina new covered stage at Tuggeranong Town Park.

The investment is part of a $100 million injection into local community infrastructure through the Regional and Local Community Infrastructure Program.

“Like many Canberrans, I recently attended the Tuggeranong Festival at Tuggeranong Town Park and saw the potential of a shaded stage, particularly for community music, dance and theatre events,” said Ms Brodtmann.

“The Member for Brindabella, John Hargreaves made strong representations on this issue throughout 2008. Following this, the ACT Government announced an initial $200,000 to start the project.

“This investment builds on the initial ACT Government funding and I congratulate Mr Hargreaves as a long term supporter of this stage.

“The stage will enhance the viability of the park and the interconnectedness of the community, particularly through the festival and arts. I’m delighted to welcome the Gillard Government’s commitment to the Tuggeranong community,” said Ms Brodtmann.
