This fortnight in Parliament

This fortnight in Parliament the debate has been dominated by the situation in Iraq and issues of national security. I spoke about the reasons we need to act in Iraq, highlighting the systematic campaign of sexual violence against women that is being perpetrated.

I also said that now more than ever, it is vital that everyone, especially our leaders, do all we can to foster harmony, social inclusion and respect in our communities.

The unfair Budget remains a focus, and this fortnight I spoke about the Abbott Government's cuts to the Child Care Benefit, which will leave 500,000 low and middle-income families worse off.

The good news this week is that Labor has saved pensioners from the Government’s cruel cuts – for now. The Government has made an embarrassing backflip, agreeing to drop its cuts to pensions, to families and to young people for the time being.

You can find a full list of my speeches from the last fortnight below.
