I am saddened to learn of the passing of the Hon. Kep Earl Enderby QC.
The former Federal Member for the seats of the ACT and Canberra entered politics in 1970, and later became a senior cabinet minister in the Whitlam Government.
Kep will be remembered for his long and dedicated service to our country.
I would particularly like to acknowledge his work in decriminalising abortion and homosexuality in the ACT.
He has been described by the ACT Labor family as having a ‘gifted mind’.
After leaving politics, Kep was appointed a New South Wales Supreme Court judge, where he continued a life of public service.
As the current Member for Canberra, I pay tribute to Kep for his vision for our city and nation and commitment to social justice.
I offer the Enderby family my deepest condolences.
