The Chronicle: Building a Stronger Community

Community groups often contact me with their big ideas on how to make Canberra an even better place - but don’t have the funding to do it.

The Stronger Communities Grants Program gives not-for-profit organisations the chance to make those ideas a reality

Between $2,500 and $20,000 is available for eligible small capital projects that improve community participation.
However, there is a catch. The funding must be matched in cash or in-kind on at least a dollar-for-dollar basis.

I’ve been volunteering since my first Meals On Wheels run during primary school holidays. I know $2,500 can go a long way in an organisation that runs on the smell of an oily rag and relies on funding from lots of sausages being sizzled.

So make sure you get your expressions of interest in before Friday 28 July 2017.
